ITANAGAR, Jan 08: The 12 hours district bandh called by All Kurung Kumey District Students Union (AKKDSU) has passed off peacefully without any reports of untoward incidents, claimed AKKDSU in a release today. AKKDSU called the bandh in protest against the district administration for its alleged failure to fulfill their demands. It sought for immediate suspension of three police personnel and other staffs who allegedly failed to perform their duties in electoral roll burning incident on 9th Dec 2013 at Hawa Camp. It also demanded suspension of Kurung Kumey District SP and district electoral officer (DC) for alleged failure to deploy enough police personnel and staffs inspite of knowing the hostile atmosphere post electoral summary revision in the district.

ITANAGAR, Jan 08: Kurung Kumey District Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sangha Tagik today wrote letter to the state Chief Electoral Officer claiming that some people are resorting to road blockade in district with an intention to stop fresh and decentralized hearing for summary revision of electoral rolls of four assembly constituencies in the district. The Zilla Parishad Chairperson said that such act would create fear psychosis among the electoral officers and staff and could disrupt the fresh hearing process. Tagik further requested the authority to take urgent steps to ensure that the officer and electoral staffs reach at their respective place of hearing safely.

‘Strengthen the PPA’
ITANAGAR, Jan 08: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) president Nikh Kamin today called upon the people to strengthen the PPA, the only indigenous party of the state. Dr. K K Deb retires
ITANAGAR, Jan 08: Arunachal Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and NPCB Cell gave emotional farewell to Dr. K K Deb, who has retired as Selection Grade Eye Specialist.
Dr. Deb, who joined the state health services as eye specialist in 1984 at Pasighat General Hospital, served selflessly for the people of this state when there was no eye care service provider in this remote state.
He was responsible for developing infrastructure for Eye care in the state and served as conduit between the State government and government of India in his capacity as Programme Officer of national Programme for Control of Blindness.
Dr. R. Doye, Jt. Director, Medical Education (Research & Training) and President of AAO Dr. Lobsang Tsetim, Dr. Bai Bam, Dr. T. Delegate power & function to judicial officers: APLAS
ITANAGAR, Jan 08: The Arunachal Pradesh Legal Aid Society (APLAS) today appealed to the government to issue an order to delegate power and function of newly recruited judicial officers in the state.
Claiming that three additional district and session judges, five chief judicial magistrates and five first class judicial magistrates have been recruited and posted in different districts, the APLAS, however, said that they (judicial officers) are not taking up any case as the state government has not issued an order yet to delegate power and function upon them.

TEZU, Jan 8: Second in the row – after the November 16, 2013 at Itanagar – a Vikas Rally was held here at Tezu Ground today to highlight the achievements made by the Arunachal Pradesh Government in recent years, particularly under the leadership of Nabam Tuki as the Chief Minister.

Body of missing doctor Okit Peyang recovered
SEPPA, Jan 8: The decomposed body of Dr. Okit Peyang has been recovered after a gap of 18 days on January 7 last.
The 24 members’ team including members from East Kameng Health Assistant Association led by elder brother of the deceased found the death body ½ Km away from the confluence of Kameng and Bichom river. The death body was identified as Dr. Okit Peyang. They locate the body inside a rock caves pushed by the river waves in a rocky areas, 8 Kms away from Bana.

BJP alleges mismanagement by Raj Bhawan Secretariat
ITANAGAR, Jan 08: Taking strong exception to the alleged mismanagement of appointments in Raj Bhawan by the Raj Bhavan Secretariat, the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has flayed Secretary to Governor for ‘politicizing the constitutional office.’
In a release, BJP state office informed that two former Lok Sabha Member of Parliaments Tapir Gao and Kiren Rijiju were asked to call on the Governor anytime in the first week of January 2014 after confirming the convenience and availability of the Governor from Governor’s Secretariat vide letter No. GS/BJP/2012/5090 dated December 30, 2013.
‘This letter was sent to party office by the Secretary to Governor Dr. Sachin Shinde,’ said BJP State President, Tai Tagak while confirming that this letter was in connection with miscommunication that took place during President of India’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh in November last.

ITANAGAR, Jan 08: PPA’s City Youth president and his friend were allegedly beaten by police without any provocation at State Transports Station (STS), Itanagar premises on January five at around 5.30 am.
The victims Biki Punung, PPA City Youth president and his friend Raju Dui, in their complaint letter to Superintendent of Police, Itanagar, claimed that a team of police from Itanagar police station led by I.O. P Baruah, which arrived at STS office premises on being informed of a dispute between two parties, started to beat both of them mercilessly without any provocation and knowing the real fact of the incident.

Delay in ‘forest clearance’ hits highway construction

PASIGHAT, Jan 08: Undue delay in “forest clearance” against 10 km portion of National
Highway-
Sources said that delay forest clearance for a 10 km stretch from Sissari river to Sinekorong by Union Ministry of Environment & Forest (MoEF) is hitting highway construction in Lower Dibang Valley district. BRO officials said that they are making all out efforts to rapid progress of the highway therein, but the ministry has not yet issued forest clearance for the portion.
“We have timely submitted necessary proposal with the MoEF, but the ministry is delaying the forest clearance. We are completing highway works in East Siang soon and all set to start work in Lower Dibang Valley portion”, said the executive engineer (Officer Commanding) of 1443 BCC of BRO, Pankaj Kumar.
The officer Commanding (OC) further informed that the BRO, under its “Project Brahmank” has started construction of RCC bridge over Sissari river along the highway. The bridge is also expected to complete in the current year. The height of the bridge is about 22 meters.
The BRO has completed highway construction between Sille and Raneghat (Pasighat) and making rapid progress of the road between Mebo and Sissari river point. Apart from three small portions in between Sille and Rani villages, black topping, road marking and construction of side bars and barriers at bridge points at the 31 km portion is almost complete.

BRO sources said it would finish road works between Sille and Pasighat within March this year, while it is planning to complete the remaining portion i.e. from Siluk to Sissari within the month of February next.

Polio Immunization Programme made elaborate arrangements to launch first round of
Pulse Polio Immunization Programme for the year 2014. Under this programme, altogether
275 booths have been identified to administer polio dozes to around 16000 children

Emphasizing the need to give adequate coverage in West Siang District, the DC has asked all ADC, EACs and COs to conduct meeting in their respective places to work out transportation, accommodation and work force to make the programme a successful one.
Dr. Kengo Ori, DFWO briefed about the aims and objectives of the programme and informed that the two decades of immunization programme has drastically reduced polio cases in the district. Since this routine immunization programme is a heavy duty, the medical department will largely depend on District Administration for transportation and mobilization and ICDS and Education Department for men power. He appealed all departments to extend all cooperation to launch this programme in a successful manner.
DTF members also presented their useful suggestions to carry out the programme.
CHANGLANG: The meeting of the District Task Force for IPPI was held today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Changlang. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Chanchal Yadav.

At 42nd Dambuk A/C, Parbuk won the 1st prize and Jia won the 2nd prize in men’s football. In Women football, Parbuk (Senior) won the 1st and Parbuk (Junior) won the 2nd prize. In Men’s Volleyball, Kangkong VI stood 1st while Parbuk VI stood 2nd and in women’s Volleyball, Parbuk (sr) won the 1st and Parbuk (jr) won the 2nd prize.

Pradesh police (APP)'s irresponsible attitude towards the denizens of capital complex,
Itanagar. It is surprising that police of capital complex do not respond to the calls
made on their helpline numbers. I am relating this message in view of my last night’s
experience. I was brutally assaulted. For help I called Itanagar police station
but alas! No help came. I received serious injuries and only god knows how will

Repeated incident of bank robbery is distressing citizens
At present it seems some sort of circus is going in the state. Every time police claims to have solved bank robbery case, report of a new robbery incident pours in. Few days ago on the day capital police claimed to have solved Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank Ganga branch robbery case, the robbers looted SBI staffs when they were about to deposit cash at Nirjuli ATM booth. Yesterday the robbers looted 7 lacs from Rural Bank’s Yachuli branch. This comes immediately after capital police arrested two people and recovered 23 lakhs in regards to Nirjuli ATM Booth heist.
The series of bank robbery incidents does not augur well for the people of state. It shows that law and order has completely broken down. Most importantly state police are becoming laughing stock. Why they are not able to prevent such incidents from occurring repeatedly? Especially it becomes matter of serious concern, when such incident is reported on regular basis from capital complex. The government of Arunachal should step in and take vital decision to improve bank security across the state.
